Berwick-upon-Tweed is England's most northern town situated approx 2.5 miles from the Scottish Border.

Scottish or English?

Berwick-upon-Tweed's location has meant that over the years it has changed from being English to Scottish and vice versa on many occasions. During the Middle Ages the town changed hands no fewer than 10 times! The town was eventually captured by Richard, Duke of Gloucester, in 1482 and has been under English control ever since.
